Communications
One of my standard time out and post-loss spiels (used once or twice each season) involves discussing the two strongest muscles in the body. The first one I discuss is the Heart, which works, and works, and works, and only matters when it doesn't quit. The second is the strongest muscle, per pound, in the entire body: the tongue. If players on the team don't use the two strongest muscles they've got, then it doesn't matter what the rest of them does...
Over the years, I've talked with players at each part of the game about the kinds of things they can be saying to their teammates in order to make the team run more smoothly. Communication is like oil in the engine. The engine doesn't need it to run in very short bursts, but if it's going to keep on working, especially after it gets warmed up, it sure does keep things working.
Everyone has a responsibility for making the team better. They can do it in two ways. By making themselves better, or by improving those around them on the team.
